History of Calendar
A method in which we or organized days for socially, religiously, commercially or administratively is called calendar. In this method, different names are given to the time period such as day, week, month, and year. In this process, the date indicates the single time cycle of a specific day.
Types of Calendar
There are two types of calendars, Solar Calendar and Lunar calendar.
A calendar in which dates are based on the monthly revolution cycle of the moon for 29 or 30 days is called Lunar calendar in contradiction the Solar calendar is a calendar in which dates are based on the possible position of Sun to its relative stars. The Gregorian calendar is a valid example of the solar calendar. The lunar calendar also called the Hijri calendar.
Hijri Calendar
Hijri calendar is a calendar that Muslims follow in their whole life for various religious occasions according to Arabic date. The Islamic calendar was established in the Hijri era When Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) and his companions or followers migrated to Madina from Macca in 622AD/CE.
Founder of Islamic Calendar
Hazrat Umar bin Khattab (R.A) the second Khalifa of Islam is a person who created the Hijri calendar which had 12 months indicated by the rotatory cycle of the moon. In that way, the Islamic calendar was created. The Islamic calendar has distinguished importance among the Muslim.
Months of Hijri Calendar
Hirji calendar has 12 months and Muharram, Safar, Rabi' al-Awwal, Rabi' al-thani, Jumada al-awwal, Jumada al-thani, Rajab, Sha'ban, Ramadan, Shawwal, Dhu al-Qi' dah and Dhu al-Hijjah are the religious months of Hijri calendar. Muharram is the first month of the Hijri calendar and Dhu al-Hijjah is the last month of the Islamic calendar.
Ramadan Calendar
In Ramadan calendar also consist of sehri time and iftar time for the fasting purpose these timings help the Muslims in Ramadan who fast in this holy month. Muslims follow the Islamic calendar according to the religious value of Islamic month because all Hijri months have their own Islamic significance and importance.
